The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Missouri State University invites applications for an assistant professor tenure-track position in the sociology program beginning August, 2017. The position requires expertise in medical sociology. Required teaching includes medical sociology and introductory sociology courses. Secondary areas are open; however, the sociology program focuses on public sociology and seeks candidates whose teaching encourages students to apply their sociological knowledge to public affairs and community programs. The program seeks applicants whose research interests hold the potential to engage local agencies, organizations, and communities. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in sociology by time of appointment, college teaching experience, a demonstrated ability to conduct academic research, and a commitment to public sociology.
