The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in sociology to begin August 2017, pending budgetary approval. We are particularly interested in candidates with primary teaching and research interests in new media and/or race, ethnicity, and inequality. We welcome candidates whose research and teaching are engaged with broader communities. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the department’s core curriculum by regularly teaching an introductory Microsociology course along with upper-level courses. A Ph.D. in sociology or related discipline is required at the time of appointment.
