Bard College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2017. Specializations of particular interest are: health and medical sociology, education, law, comparative and historical sociology, science and technology. In addition, the successful candidate will teach our required sociological theory course and more advanced courses in social theory, and ideally will be able to contribute to campus conversations about diversity.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, and the supervision of undergraduate senior theses. The successful candidate will have a commitment to quality, innovative undergraduate teaching at a liberal arts college; maintaining an active research program; contributing to the general education curriculum; and engaging with the life of the college.
Candidates must hold a PhD in Sociology; ABD at the time of application will be considered.
