The Department of Sociology at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (open rank), to begin on July 1, 2017. We seek applicants who study environmental sociology in conjunction with either political sociology or the sociology of development, as part of the department’s focus on Global and Comparative Sociology (GCS). This position stands to benefit from linkages with other environmental centers and programs at the University of Utah, including the Global Change & Sustainability Center (http://environment.utah.edu/index.html) and the Environmental & Sustainability Studies program (http://envst.utah.edu/)
Successful applicants will have an excellent and sustained record of research, including evidence of the potential or demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding commensurate with their career stage. Applicants should also be prepared to contribute to the department’s teaching mission at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Sociology program awards BS/BA, MA, Master of Statistics, and PhD degrees. It has about 400 undergraduate majors and a well-regarded doctoral program.
