The Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences (IKBSAS) at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan (UBCO) campus invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Sociology, with specialization in Globalization, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The position will be held in Unit 6 (History and Sociology), in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences and is expected to start on January 1, 2017.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Sociology or a cognate field, a strong research record, evidence of competitive research grant success, and demonstrated excellence in and commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Area of geographical focus is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in human rights, governance systems, and/or non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Candidates should also be prepared to teach required courses in either sociological theory or research methods (qualitative or quantitative). The ability to integrate your scholarship into ongoing research activities in the Unit, the IKBSAS, and other UBCO Faculties, and to enhance existing research strengths is strongly desired.
