If you are a US candidate for this, forget it. Memorial sociology has a virtually categorical policy to hire only Canadian candidates.

That's not true for in sociology for comprehensive universities (like Memorial) in Canada. www.universityaffairs.ca/news/news-article/hiring-in-sociology/My rule of thumb is, if they (the Canadian university) does not advertise in the US, then they are looking to hire a Canadian candidate. Their last soc hire was an American educated Canadian, for instance. If you aren't from Newfoundland or aren't at least familiar with it, I think it's likely that you might not be staying there ...

You should use a hyphen so that the reader won't misplace the modifiers in your statement. The meaning was entirely clear. Don't try to assert your "smartness" by being a pedant. It's pathetic.

Thanks for the words of support, *annoyed by pedants*. I've been working on a comeback for 9 days and you've alleviated me of the burden.
I only hope I wrote that properly.
ZING! SWISH!
...
So, anyway ... bump.

My career prospects hinge on the answer!

Can anyone other than So confirm that the offers have been made and accepted? I'm still hopeful over here.

But an October deadline? I usually give up hope after 3 weeks.
It's over, Skeptical. I'm sorry.
