The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at West Virginia University (http://soca.wvu.edu) invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor beginning fall of 2016. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Department's undergraduate curriculum as well as assume a significant role in the Department’s online education initiatives. Specific responsibilities include assisting with the development of a new online minor in criminology and developing online courses to serve the criminology and sociology minors. A Ph.D. or equivalent in sociology, criminology, or a closely related field is required by time of appointment. Applicants should present evidence of ability to effectively develop and teach online courses.
Teaching faculty appointments at WVU are full-time, non-tenure track, term appointments with no limit on the number of renewal terms. Teaching Assistant Professors are eligible for promotion, e.g., to Teaching Associate Professor; however, promotion to senior ranks is not a requirement for institutional commitment and career stability. There is no traditional research assignment; this position is a full-time nine-month appointment and includes full benefits.
