I have applied to several universities around the large city where my spouse and I currently live. If I get any of the jobs, I plan on spending most of the week on campus and commuting back for long weekends, i.e. Fri through Mon (my spouse has a job in the city).
What is the general consensus out there - can it hurt my chances if I reveal my plan to SCs during a campus visit?

Yes. Keep your trap shut about such things.

Why should it really matter what your living arrangements are as long as you are where you need to be when you need to be there?

Yes, no need to tell anyone about your personal life. That goes in general - the interview is only about you until you get the offer. THEN bring up spousal accommodation. And just commuting? WTF cares? Nobody's beeswax.

An addition to my post above - still don't bring it up. Nobody's beeswax. Why would you say that during the interview? Focus on what you can do for the department, not what you're doing on the weekends.
