This is a common refrain...it is concerning when candidates visit for a campus interview and appear to have no knowledge of the current faculty interests, scholarship, or much else, or fail to ask followup questions, especially when the department is not 50 faculty. The interview is a lot like speed dating and when candidates do not appear to have any interest in their hosts...

Maybe if search committees chose job candidates who really wanted to be there instead of chasing after the same 20 market stars with a whole bunch of flyouts they'd find this would become less of a problem.
