Assistant Professor of Sociology
The Department of Social Sciences at Flagler College invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2016. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or have a documented completion date prior to appointment). Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in sociological theory and the ability to involve undergraduates in research.
Responsibilities include teaching introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses, conducting research, and contributing to the first year program, student advising, and committee assignments. Applicants must demonstrate sincere interest and ability in undergraduate teaching and an established record of scholarship. Preferred applicants will be able to teach several of the following courses: Contemporary and Classical Sociological Theory, Social Stratification, Sociology of Law, and Sociology of Deviance. Additional preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to the Criminology curriculum as well as Sociology. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
Flagler College is a private independent college with an enrollment of 2,500 students. Flagler College is located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, 35 miles south of Jacksonville and 55 miles north of Daytona Beach.
