Tenure-track assistant professor beginning August 2016. We are specifically looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher-scholar with a strong background in quantitative analysis and methodology. Secondary area is open yet priority will be given to candidates with expertise completing current program. Assistant professors are evaluated annually on teaching success, research/scholarly record, and service; the normal probationary period is 6 years. Professional Responsibilities:
Develop and teach courses in quantitative analysis, statistics and research methods, as well as other core areas of the discipline. Some Sociology courses will be offered entirely on-line or in “hybrid” form. It is CSUB policy that faculty using technology-mediated pedagogy must be formally certified through an approved training program. Additionally, the candidate is expected to develop a research/scholarly record during the 6 year probationary period, as well as professionally-related service record. Service may include community-based programs associated with the School of Social Sciences & Education’s Center for Quality of Life.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Sociology at the time of appointment is required. We seek a colleague with primary teaching and research expertise in quantitative analysis and methodology. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated teaching experience, a well developed research agenda, and a record of funded or unfunded grants and proposals.
