Position:
The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in sociology in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice beginning August 2016.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Sociology. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2017. Expertise in quantitative methods, preferably with a specialization in health and medicine. Seek applicants with civic engagement experience or interest who can link our students to the local or global community. Interest in pursuing external funding is desirable. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and working with a diverse student population and show clear potential for scholarly research and publication.
Responsibilities:
Faculty assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. Beginning the second year the workload reverts back to the standard instructional workload of seven to eight (7-8) course units. Teach Sociological Analysis (an applied data analysis and advanced composition course), as well as a mix of other lower and upper-level courses. Maintain an active research agenda with consistent and demonstrated scholarship activity, advise undergraduate students and participate actively in shared governance.
