University of West Georgia The Department of Sociology at the University of West Georgia solicits applications for one assistant professor position starting August 2016. A PhD in sociology or related discipline is required at the time of appointment. We are a growing department with teaching opportunities in our BS and MA degree programs. We encourage applications from those who have teaching and research interests in medical sociology. Successful candidates need a strong commitment to teaching, an active research agenda, and dedication to service to the university and community. Is this considered a more teaching-oriented position? Should my application focus more heavily on my teaching than research?

The teaching load is 3-3 and research is expected. I would emphasize teaching, but don't neglect research.
