The Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for three positions to begin in Fall 2016: a tenure-track Assistant/Advanced Assistant Professor position; a tenure track Assistant Professor position; and a non-tenure track, 12-month continuing Lecturer position, as described in more detail below. The hiring date is July 1st, 2016. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. The closing date for applications to be fully considered is October 25, 2015. In addition, the School of Social Research and Justice Studies invites applications for the Director of the Judicial Studies and Justice Management Programs at the associate/full professor level with the faculty member's home department in the social sciences or behavioral sciences open.

Tenure-track Assistant/Advanced Assistant Professor focusing on research methods and/or statistics with area of concentration open
Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field; the J.D. alone will not be considered a terminal degree for this position. ABD candidates may be considered, providing the degree is completed by August 1, 2016. The area of criminal justice specialization or concentration is open, but the competitive candidate will have expertise in advanced research methods and/or statistics, and experience in applying for external funding. The desirable candidate may also have research and/or teaching interests in areas such as policing, criminal justice policy, gangs, cyber law/cybercrime, victimology, and/or white collar/corporate crime. Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience at the university level and the ability to teach and develop courses at the graduate as well as undergraduate levels. Individuals with work experience in criminal justice are also encouraged to apply.
Tenure-track Assistant Professor emphasizing administration of justice
Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field; the J.D. alone will not be considered a terminal degree for this position. ABD candidates may be considered, providing the degree is completed by August 1, 2016. The competitive candidate will have university level teaching and research interests in criminal justice organization and administration. An additional area of consideration may include comparative criminal justice systems. Candidates will have the ability to develop and teach courses in these areas as well as a defined research agenda and experience in applying for external funding. Related professional experience and strong quantitative skills are desirable.
Non-tenure track, 12 month Continuing Lecturer combining teaching and academic advising
Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of 1) a MS or MA in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field, or 2) a J.D. The degree must be completed by July 1, 2016. Strong preference given to applicants with successful experience teaching in-person required lower division Criminal Justice courses, academic advising experience, and knowledge of instructional and advising technology. The position will also be responsible for teaching lower division, required Criminal Justice courses, with a 4-4 teaching load that will be reduced as necessary for undergraduate academic advising duties.
