Texas Tech University. The Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work seeks applications for a tenure track assistant professor in sociology with a primary research area in the Sociology of health/mental health/medical sociology and who also specialize in quantitative methods. Secondary areas are open. The successful candidate needs to complete all the requirements for a PhD in sociology before starting the appointment (September 1, 2016).
We are looking for a sociologist with a clearly articulated research agenda who has a record of peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidate will be expected to seek outside research funding, teach courses in the program's undergraduate and graduate programs, and provide service to the department, TTU, and the community. The Sociology program offers a BA in Sociology, an undergraduate concentration in Criminology, and an MA in Sociology. The department also offers undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Social Work as well as an MA in Anthropology and an MSW. Department faculty have long-standing research and teaching relationships with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Pharmacy. The department participates in many campus-wide interdisciplinary programs and centers including Women’s Studies, Climate Science Center, Latin American and Iberian Studies, Asian Studies, Community and Urban Studies, Religious Studies, Family Life Studies, and Forensic Sciences.
