The criminal justice department invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions. The ideal candidate has the ability to teach a variety of courses within an undergraduate and graduate program in criminal justice. Teaching and research areas are open, although specialization in courts, criminal law, and gender and justice or research methods, statistics and capstone is desirable. Additional teaching in summer is available.
The department of criminal justice offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The undergraduate program is Quinn Bill-certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and provides a comprehensive overview of the criminal justice field with a variety of electives designed to meet students' specific areas of interests. Our graduate program prepares students for research and administrative careers in criminal justice as well as for doctoral study.
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching responsibilities, advising, scholarship and contributions to the development of the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
Required Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in criminal justice or closely related field. ABD’s may apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the time of the appointment (J.D. or L.L.B. is not a sufficient terminal degree)
2. Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses within an undergraduate and graduate program in criminal justice
Preferred qualifications:
1. Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college/university level
2. Experience in and commitment to teaching in multiracial, multiethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
3. Experience in distance learning and instructional technologies
4. Experience serving as role a model and mentor for a diverse student body
5. Evidence of scholarly research in courts, criminal law, and gender and justice
