State University of New York College at Cortland, Department of Sociology/Anthropology invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor openings in Sociology starting in the fall of 2016. The successful candidates will be expected to teach courses that fulfill the curricular needs of a growing undergraduate criminology program. The Department is specifically looking for teacher-scholars who can teach the following existing courses: "White Collar Crime" and "Sociology of Policing." The second course focuses on a critical and historical approach to U.S. law enforcement, reflecting the close ties between criminology and sociology at SUNY Cortland. The Department is also looking to expand course offerings in areas such as cross-national/global criminology, cybercrime, crime and mental illness, and organized crime. The ability to teach research methods or interest in supervising an active internship program is desirable. We seek candidates who have demonstrated excellence in teaching as well as the ability to maintain a record of active scholarship and service. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Ph.D. in sociology or criminology by August 2016 is required. For a full job description and to apply on line, go to: jobs.cortland.edu. Preference will be given to applications received before October 16.
