Great department (seriously super great - I'm very sad to leave), amazing students, perfect for dual-career looking to apply to the UM positions. I'd be happy to answer any and all questions about this position!
------------------------------------------
The Department of Anthropology & Sociology at Albion College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2015. We seek to hire a colleague with scholarly and teaching interests in quantitative methods and global and/or transnational sociology. Other areas that complement department faculty are open, with some preference for sociology of health and illness.
Promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential, and an active scholarly agenda is expected.
The teaching load is three classes per semester. We invite applicants with a Ph.D. who are broadly trained and able to contribute to one or more interdisciplinary undergraduate programs such as International Studies, the Institute for Healthcare Professions, and Human Services, as well as general education requirements in Global Studies and other areas. Other teaching opportunities include First-Year Seminars and Honors seminars.
By October 15 interested candidates should submit a letter of application that describes research and teaching interests (including possible course offerings), curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness, sample syllabus, brief writing sample, copy of graduate transcripts, and names of three references to www.albion.edu/hr/online-employment-application. Please contact Dr. Scott Melzer (smelzer@albion.edu), Chair, Department of Anthropology & Sociology, for questions about the position or search.
Albion College is a private liberal arts college of approximately 1,400 students. It is situated in a culturally diverse community in south-central Michigan within an hour's drive of the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University. Albion is dedicated to the highest quality in undergraduate education and committed to diversity as a core institutional value. The College is committed to a policy of equal opportunity and non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age or disability, as protected by law, in all educational programs and activities, admission of students and conditions of employment. We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to a campus climate that supports equality and diversity. Visit our website at www.albion.edu.
