Did anyone else's Duke application on academicjobsonline.org NOT email your references for their letters? I submitted my application but it now says it is complete even though none of my letter writers received an email to upload their letter.

I did not apply for the Duke position but from other jobs that use that system, first you fill out the letter of recommendation information and then you have to click the green arrow button on your application/portfolio to generate an auto-email request sent to your references. It does not do it automatically, even if you submit your application. Hope that helps!

I really hate Academic Jobs Online, this is my 3rd time on the market and the letters of recommendation part still makes me pause as I am trying to make sure that the wrong/old ones aren't attached instead of new ones requested, really hate working with this one.

AJO is by far the worst system I've used precisely for that reason.

Thanks for the repolies eveyone! Glad it's not just me having issues with AJO I did not apply for the Duke position but from other jobs that use that system, first you fill out the letter of recommendation information and then you have to click the green arrow button on your application/portfolio to generate an auto-email request sent to your references. It does not do it automatically, even if you submit your application. Hope that helps! Thank you for the instructions! I went and looked though but there are no green arrows in my Duke application to click. I looked at another application I recently submitted and I see exactly what you're talking about; there are little green arrows that say when was the last time the system emailed the person and a yellow arrow by those who have submitted a letter. All of that is missing in my Duke app though. I'm going to call them first thing Monday morning to ask about it. Maybe rec letter aren't due with the application, maybe they are one of those types who only want the names listed. I'll check the position listing again too.

Figured it out! Duke only needs NAMES of references for the application to be complete. That must be why the green arrows were not displaying. Good I'm finished. On to the next application...

I recall seeing something along the lines "no letters requested at this time" in red somewhere on the application summary page.
