Mississippi State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sociology beginning August 16, 2016. Advanced Assistant Professors are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates who conduct research in, and are committed to teaching about, rural sociology, community development and/or sustainable development. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to teach research methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels. A Ph.D. in Sociology is required for appointment.
The department has more than 400 undergraduate majors and 50 sociology graduate students with strong ties to the African American Studies Program, Gender Studies Program, and the Social Science Research Center. Programs offered include BA, BSW, MS, and Ph.D. in Sociology.
