Job Summary: The University of Southern Mississippi's Department of Anthropology and Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of sociology to join our active and collegial sociology program in August 2016. Position is contingent on funding.
Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will have a 3/3 teaching load, maintain an active research agenda, and provide service to the department, college and the university.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in sociology by time of appointment and evidence of a productive research agenda
Preferred Qualifications: The specialization area is open, but we particularly encourage applicants with interests in any of the following areas: inequality (broadly defined), family, education, health, the environment and/or nonprofit studies. Additional preferred qualifications include experience using or teaching multiple research methods and teaching and mentoring in a university setting with a diverse student body.
