Job Description: Assistant Professor of Sociology
Assistant Professor/Tenure Track Faculty
North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is accepting applications for an assistant professor (tenure-track) appointment to begin fall 2016. The faculty hired will contribute primarily to the Crime, Deviance, and Social Control (CDSC) graduate program area. The successful candidate should have an active research and publication agenda in the sociology of community in relation to crime. The successful candidate should also have strong teaching and research skills. Strong skills in quantitative research methods, an active research and publication agenda, a record of extramural research funding or promise of such funding, and a commitment to mentoring graduate students should be evident. Qualifications: Candidate qualifications for the position include (1) a Ph.D. in Sociology or related field by time of employment; (2) a strong record of research and publication with a demonstrated record of extramural research funding or promise of such funding; (3) a strong commitment to student mentorship; and (4) knowledge of spatial analytic methods and/or Geographic Information Science techniques, preferred.
