General Position Summary
The Josef Korbel School seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level focused on technology and security to start September 2016. We are seeking a scholar whose research focuses at the intersection of technology and security, both broadly construed. This includes, but is not limited to, general relationships between technological change and conflict/violence as well as the impact of particular technologies (such as cyber, nuclear weapons, unmanned weapons systems, mobile communications, or social media) on traditional and/or human security concerns. Successful candidates should be able to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, as well as to the Sie Cheou-Kang Center for International Security & Diplomacy Research Program.
Essential Functions:
Active research and regular teaching on issues related to technology and international security. Regular teaching load is four courses/year.
Education, Certifications, or Formal Training (Required):
Successful candidates should have a PhD in international and/or comparative politics, or relevant field. ABDs are welcome to apply, but PhD must be conferred by September 1, 2016. (Note: ABD faculty are hired in the Teaching Professorial series (and at a reduced salary) if the PhD is not earned by the hire date.)
Education, Certifications, or Formal Training (Preferred):
Candidates with a record of successful research and grant making, and an interest in the policy implications of their work, are particularly encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from those at the advanced assistant professor level.
