The Department of Sociology at Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning July 2016, subject to budgetary approval. We seek a colleague who studies the social dynamics of cities, with preference for those who use quantitative methodologies. Within urban sociology, specific foci on law and politics, crime, social inequalities, or the transnational dynamics of cities will complement existing department strengths. We seek a colleague who can speak to the growing interdisciplinary interest in urban studies across the University as well as within the Department of Sociology, which has expertise in utilizing urban ethnography to study space, identity, culture and community. Boston University expects excellence in teaching and in research and is committed to building a culturally diverse faculty and a multicultural learning environment. A completed PhD is expected before September 2016. Please apply online at academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/4244 by October 1, 2015. Applications should include a letter describing your teaching and research interests and professional experience; curriculum vitae; two samples of your scholarly writing; names of your three referees; and three letters of reference sent under separate cover.
