I have been thinking about proposing a special issue for some time. As an early career scholar (with only a few pubs) is this something that an editor would even consider? Is this a total dream that I should shelve until later when I have more work out there, or is it reasonable to pursue it now?
Also, does anyone have advice/tips on pitching a special issue?
Thanks for any information or advice you can share!

Thanks for any information or advice you can share! There is two ways of going about this. If you or someone close to you knows the editor, you informally ask if they would be interested in the topic you had in mind and go from there. If you don't have that connection, the publication's webpage should have a page on how to propose special issues, which will be a bit more involved. Needless to say, the first way is substantially more likely to be successful. As for making the pitch, make sure that a similar topic hasn't been done by the journal recently.
