The Department of Behavioral Sciences at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond Indiana is accepting applications for the position of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Sociology beginning August 15, 2016. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester in Sociological Theory and Criminology as well as courses in Research Methods, Social Problems, and/or additional course(s) covering the candidate's area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the governance and committee work of the department, division, and college, and be professionally active in their discipline.
Purdue University Calumet is a comprehensive university with a student enrollment of more than 9,000 students. The University offers over 100 fields of study through many different educational options such as certificate, baccalaureate, and master's degree programs. Purdue Calumet is a regional campus ideally located in northwest Indiana's business corridor, 25 miles from Chicago (three miles from the Illinois border). This position is in the Department of Behavioral Sciences, an interdisciplinary department consisting of programs in Psychology, Sociology, and Human Development and Family Studies.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Sociology. ABD candidates will be considered, but must provide evidence of successful completion of their doctoral degree prior to August 1, 2016. A commitment to undergraduate teaching and an emerging course of research activity is essential.
