Position No. 00050341. The Sociology Department at Southern Methodist University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2016 pending budgetary approval. We seek a sociologist with a strong research agenda and a commitment to teaching and engaging in research with undergraduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: economic sociology, work and organizations, and race and ethnicity. Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment.
The position requires excellence in both research and teaching. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester, and will be expected to teach general and advanced undergraduate research methods and or theory courses as a part of their teaching responsibilities.
