The Department of Journalism within the School of Media and Communication at Temple University seeks candidates for an open-rank (tenure-track or tenured) faculty position, to begin in August 2016, focused on the study of news institutions and the sociology of journalism. In addition, the faculty member should be able to teach other classes in our multimedia journalism curriculum. The successful candidate must provide evidence of strong teaching experience and a clear research agenda. A Ph.D. is required.
The goal of Temple's journalism program is to prepare students for a multimedia professional future with solid training in urban journalism and with particular emphasis on underserved communities. We seek a colleague with a similar commitment and philosophy. The Department of Journalism is more than 80 years old with 15 full-time faculty members who teach approximately 600 students pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in Journalism. Departmental faculty members who hold the Ph.D. also have the opportunity to participate in the School of Media and Communications doctoral program in Media and Communication.
