The Marvin D. and June Samuel Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences, Division of Social Work, Behavioral & Political Sciences, seeks candidates who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching with a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Sociology.
The Division of Social Work, Behavioral & Political Sciences invites applications for one tenure-track position in Sociology at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to teaching courses in Sociology as assigned, advising students, and serving on committees. In addition to teaching and service, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate a sustained interest and active engagement in research and publication.
Prairie View A&M University, a member of the Texas A&M University System, is a public land grant university located 45 miles northwest of Houston, Texas, the nation's fourth largest city. It has an enrollment of more than 8,000 students and offers bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines. The University's target service area for undergraduate, graduate and outreach programs includes: the Texas Gulf Coast Region; the rapidly growing residential and commercial area known as the Northwest Houston Corridor; and urban Texas centers.
QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applicants must have a Doctorate degree in Sociology. Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college level is required.
