DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY – 2-YEAR TERM POSITION (START FALL 2015)
GRINNELL COLLEGE. 2-year position in the Department of Sociology (start Fall 2015). Assistant
Professor (Ph.D.) preferred; Instructor (ABD) possible. Grinnell College is a highly selective
undergraduate liberal arts college with a strong Sociology Department and a record of
substantial support and mentoring of new faculty. The teaching schedule of five courses each
year will include contributions to research methods and introductory statistics, Introduction to
Sociology, and courses at the mid- and advanced level in the candidate’s area of expertise. In
letters of application, candidates should discuss their interest in developing as a teacher and
scholar in an undergraduate liberal arts college that emphasizes close student-faculty
interaction. They should also discuss how they might contribute to a college community that
maintains a diversity of people and perspectives as one of its core values. To be assured of full
