Teaching Fellow of Criminology
The Department of Sociology and Criminology at Stonehill College invites applications for a one year
teaching fellow in criminology to begin in August 2015. The teaching fellow will join a department of
nine full-time faculty with a wide range of expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity among
faculty and students. A stipend of $30,000 will be provided plus benefits and faculty development
funds.
The successful candidate will teach a 2/2 course load. For the fall semester courses will be one section
of Critical Introduction to Criminal Justice (CRM 120) and one section of Criminology (CRM 201). Spring
semester courses will be determined based on selected candidate’s interests and department needs.
Areas of specialization are open. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience
as well as those who can offer classes in both criminology and sociology. We value candidates who
exemplify the teacher-scholar model with a clear understanding of how to integrate vibrant teaching,
research, and student engagement. A completed Ph.D. in criminology or sociology is preferred; ABD
considered based on experience.
Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1948, Stonehill is a private Catholic college located just
22-miles from downtown Boston on a beautiful 384-acre campus in Easton, Massachusetts. With a
student to faculty ratio of 13:1, the College engages its 2,300+ students in 80+ rigorous academic
programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and pre-professional fields.
Interested applicants should submit online a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and a teaching
portfolio (that includes statement of teaching philosophy, relevant course syllabi, and evidence of
teaching excellence). Three recommendation letters are also required and the applicant will be
prompted at the conclusion of the application process to provide the necessary contact information for
each letter provider. The letter provider will then be sent a link for which they will submit their
confidential letter of recommendation. Submit required documentation via the URL link: jobs.stonehill.edu/
The application deadline is March 13, 2015. Please email inquiries to Christopher Wetzel, Sociology and
Criminology Chairperson at cwetzel@stonehill.edu.
Applicants who will enrich the diversity of the campus community are strongly encouraged to apply.
