Guilford College invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the Justice and Policy Studies Department to begin August, 2015. The position calls for a specialization in legal studies and the judiciary, i.e., Criminal Procedure, Criminal and Constitutional Law, and Law and Society, and teaching Inquiry into Criminal Justice, Capstone Seminar, Research Methods, as well as courses with content relevant to Community and Justice Studies, the other major in the department (e.g., Restorative Justice, Race, Society, and Criminal Justice, Law and Society). The social justice, theoretical, methodological, and policy aspects of a legal specialization are the specific areas of intersection cutting across these major programs and courses. The Justice and Policy Studies Department also seeks a candidate who will assist the Department in meeting its commitment to General Education and Interdisciplinary Studies. Applicant must have a Ph.D in Criminal Justice or a closely related field. Experience in a work-related field is preferred though not required. The position is not suitable for those possessing only a Juris Doctorate.
