If you're still on the job market, I wanted to raise awareness about the large amount of hiring coming up for the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (a new university in the University of Texas system forming in 2015 from a merger between the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Texas-Brownsville). It will be awhile yet before the lines are officially approved (probably nothing official until around February), but there will be as many as 5 tenure-track lines for the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley coming up. Areas covered across the five lines will likely be sociology of health, aging, gender, religion, deviance, race/ethnicity, methods/statistics, urban sociology, and environmental studies/disaster studies (with specialty in GIS).

Are these positions still likely? I don't see anything on the human resources page for sociology jobs, though a general ad was listed in the Chronicle. Thanks!
