Job Summary: Oversee operations of the Center for Women & Gender Action, supervise student staff members, and coordinate outreach programs. Develop events, programs, and support operations that contribute to a healthy campus climate for women. Enhance the intellectual and social development of all students, and support their engagement with issues related to gender and its impact on their life experiences.
Essential Job Functions: Provide visionary leadership as the Women's Resource Center is refocused as the Center for Women and Gender Action. Coordinate campus programs, provide advocacy training, support resource sharing, and conduct assessment. Seek to implement programs and projects that engage all members of the college community in promoting a healthy campus climate for women and men. Provide informed leadership on issues related to gender and student development.
Coordinate programs that support the holistic development of our students, including programs regarding healthy relationships, positive body image, individual empowerment, and sexual health and wellness. Collaborate on programs that address disordered eating and relationship violence. Work one-on-one with students who are actively engaged in promoting a positive campus climate for women and men. Collaborate with faculty and staff from other units of the college to envision and implement programs that support the Center for Women & Gender Action's mission of enhancing education, equality and empowerment.
Some weekend and evening hours are expected.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in one of the following disciplines: Women's Studies/Gender Studies, Student Development, Psychology, Public Health or Social Work, or closely related field. Three years of experience in two or more of the following areas: gender and development, sexual assault prevention, sexual health and wellness, student health, or counseling. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to collaborate well with a diverse group to coordinate programs, and have demonstrated the commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in higher education.
Demonstrated understanding of and support for the mission and purposes of a residential, liberal arts institution.
Proficiency in the use of social media and ability to create and update web presence.
