The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Webster University invites applicants for an assistant professor tenure-track position beginning August 2012. A Ph.D. in Sociology with an emphasis in criminology is preferred at the time of appointment, although consideration will be given to strong candidates who are ABD. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, evidence of teaching excellence, and evidence of scholarly productivity and ongoing research.
Applicants should be qualified to teach introductory sociology, deviance and social control, criminological theory, research methods/statistics, and other courses in sociology or criminology. This is a nine (9) month academic position with a teaching load of six courses per year (three courses each semester) and student academic advising responsibilities. Opportunities exist for faculty research and for teaching at our international campuses. Faculty members are expected to participate in department, college and university governance activities and other university events.
Webster University, founded in 1915, is a private, multi-campus and international institution with academic programs in over 100 locations in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
