Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology
Centre College invites applications for a three-year visiting position in Sociology at the rank of visiting assistant professor beginning August 2015. Requirements include a Ph.D., dedication to student-oriented teaching, active scholarship, and the ability to incorporate community-based learning into classes. We are seeking a sociologist who can teach Introduction to Sociology and a course in at least of the following areas: 1) Community and Urban Sociology, 2) Crime, Law and Deviance, 3) Inequality, Poverty and Mobility. Preference will be given to applicants who would be interested in advising students entering the field of social work and/or social services.
Centre College is a highly selective liberal arts college of about 1,400 students, listed by U.S. News in the top fifty liberal arts colleges in the nation. Classes are small and academic standards are high. The College is located in Danville, Kentucky, a small town of 18,000 recognized for its high quality of life.
