ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
California State University, San Bernardino. The Department of Sociology invites applicants for a position at the rank of assistant professor in sociology.
Preferred candidates are prepared to teach courses in two or more of the following areas of specialization: social inequality (race, class, gender), crime and deviance, and social psychology and group dynamics.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in sociology (must be completed by time of appointment in September, 2015). Prefer that PhD is already completed and that the candidate has taught at least one course with full responsibility and with student evaluations available. Also, evidence of publication activity in peer-reviewed journals preferred.
Responsibilities: Teaching, research and scholarly activities.
Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the university and community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the university’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes: a) teaching and learning excellence; b) student access, retention, and success; c) excellence in research and creative activities; d) campus community; e) community engagement; and f) infrastructure.
