Endowed Assistant Professor of Sociology

Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track endowed position at the rank of Assistant Professor/Advanced Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2015. The endowed position provides $10,000 annually in research funds for a maximum of six years, a 1-1 teaching load, and a research assistant. Candidates are expected to engage in an active research program and to perform service as needed at the department, college, and university levels. Teaching responsibilities shall include courses in the undergraduate core curriculum, courses for sociology majors, and graduate courses.
Minimum Education or Experience
The successful applicant will have Ph.D., a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels, and a substantial research agenda with expertise in sociology of health and medicine, with a particular focus on social disparities and inequalities and/or their redress. Specialization in other areas that complement the department's strengths in social justice movements, urban and community sociology, race, gender, knowledge, and religion are welcome. Candidates for the position must have a record of or clear potential for distinguished scholarship, external research funding, and student mentorship. Candidates must be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
