We seek a scholar with an active research program (areas of specialization open) and teaching interests that contribute to current and emerging curricular needs in our undergraduate, MA, and PhD programs.
To be considered, candidates must hold a PhD in sociology or a related field (completed by August 2015); demonstrate a record of, or potential for, excellence in research and scholarly publication; and possess expertise that will enable excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the department’s curriculum. Preference is for candidates whose research builds upon existing departmental strengths in the areas of inequality and institutions; who have a record of, or potential for, external research funding; and who have experience teaching or assisting in sociology courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
The standard teaching load for department faculty is four courses per academic year (2-2). Salary for this position is competitive with those at other research universities.
Candidates must apply online at jobs.uwm.edu/postings/20831. Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, and one or two sample research papers or dissertation chapters. Also, please submit the names and contact information of two or three individuals who can provide letters of reference; they will be contacted automatically as the application is processed.
