I know that people have to be careful in posting about teaching, to keep job market actions secret, but I think this would be a valuable addition. Can we have a vote?

Could you expand? I'm not sure what you are asking for. What is the purpose/what sorts of things would be discussed/etc.
Thanks.

Yes, I could create several subforums for the "off topic" forum where people can talk about teaching, etc. Just let me know the types of things people are looking for and so on and I can create those.

Let me just update this and say that I haven't created a teaching subforum yet because I haven't heard from anyone on what they want or think would be helpful. It only makes sense to break out the off topic forum in smaller sections if there is interest in that.
Also want to point out that while I have a strong opinion that there should be certain sections of the board open to completely anonymous posting, there is always a possibility of creating subforums on specific topics that are visible only to those who have registered. So if there is a demand for, say, teaching or meet and greet forums where people have to be registered to post, that can be arranged. But again, that is entirely up to the users and their expressed interest (I am more of the janitor than the mastermind behind this forum, and just as the idea of a permanent forum came from someone else, I am open to other ideas on expanding the usefulness of this space).

I would love a meet and greet forum for only registered users.

Agreed. I feel like the teaching sociology listserv has a bit too much bickering for my tastes. Is there a way to create some rules for this particular forum about kindness and collegiality?
