You're better off looking for gossip at the next Stake Meeting, where you discuss tithe transfers to Salt Lake.
Unless you're a Mormon or an idiot, why the hell would you want this job?

So weird that Mormons use the internet and are interested in jobs, right?
Interviews have been scheduled.

i contemplated applying for this position and so visited their website to do some background research. 13 of the 16 sociology faculty have earned either their bachelors or masters degrees (or both) at BYU. all of the 4 assistant professors in the department earned both their bachelors and masters degrees from BYU. so it would appear that i don't have the "pedigree" to work at such an institution

They have a nice little pipeline going. They recruit their bright undergrads for the MS program, send them out to good PhD programs, and then recruit them back. Mormon sociologists are a small pool so it's less competitive (not to say they aren't qualified), and a lot of them have family in Utah, so it's a good gig if you can stand the cultural issues/make the religious commitment. Having gone to BYU isn't at all a requirement, and they'd probably be happy to find more mormon sociologists in the wild, but there's definitely an advantage if they know/like you.
