The Department of Policy Analysis and Management in the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University is seeking to hire a faculty member in Demography and Public Policy. Rank is open. This will be a tenure-track position. Position will involve research and teaching in demography and population studies. There will be opportunities to advise and teach undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management and to work with graduate students in the Cornell Population Center and allied doctoral fields (e.g., Sociology) in the University.
Position is in an applied multidisciplinary department with core concentrations in the areas of family and social welfare, health, and consumer policy. Faculty members are drawn from economics, sociology, health services, public policy, and other related multidisciplinary fields. The department offers a bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in public policy and a master’s degree in health administration. The research environment offers ample opportunity for faculty collaborations, both within the department and across the university as part of the Cornell Population Program.
Salary is negotiable, depending on rank, experience, and qualifications. Competitive benefits package.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Sociology, Demography, Public Health, Public Policy or allied field is required. Candidates should have a strong multidisciplinary and applied orientation, with interests in policy-relevant empirical research and teaching in the area of demography and demographic behavior. Candidates with interests if one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: population health; sexual and reproductive health, including maternal health; and race and gender inequality. The promise or demonstrated record of external funding is expected.
