California State University, San Bernardino. The Department of Sociology invites applicants for a position at the rank of Associate Professor or advanced assistant professor in sociology to begin in Fall 2015. The successful candidate has an opportunity to serve as Director of the Center on Aging at CSUSB in addition to teaching, research and service. In addition to teaching courses on social gerontology, secondary areas of expertise include ability to teach courses related to social inequality, research methods and sociology theory.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in sociology, satisfy rank and tenure expectations at the associate rank, or advanced assistant professor rank with a minimum of 3 years post-PhD.
Specialized Areas: Aging/Social Gerontology/Social Inequalities
Responsibilities: Teaching, research and scholarly activities. Potential leadership for the Center on Aging.
Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the university and community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the university’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes: a) teaching and learning excellence; b) student access, retention, and success; c) excellence in research and creative activities; d) campus community; e) community engagement; and f) infrastructure.
