The Department of Sociology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for a bi-partite, term assistant professor beginning August 2015. This small and collegial department has an undergraduate program within a teaching-centered research institution. The department's curriculum focuses on social justice and social inequality. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a core curriculum course, Individual, Society and Culture (SOC100X) and other lower and upper division courses in rotation, depending on the interests of the candidate and the needs of the department. The successful candidate may be able to negotiate a research component to the appointment. Initial appointment will be for one academic year with possibility of renewal dependent on funding and institutional priorities. ABD in Sociology required, PhD in Sociology preferred. Experience as instructor of record teaching large introductory-level undergraduate sociology courses.
