Pending funding availability, the Department of Sociology of The University of Memphis invites applications for a tenure track faculty position to be filled at the assistant professor rank. Employment begins August 2015. Applicants should have a primary specialty in social inequality and justice with emphases on race, gender, and class. A secondary specialty in social institutions with emphases on religious, health care, or educational institutions or in political economy with emphases on urban settings and region within the context of globalization will be considered a plus as will the ability to teach methods, statistics, or social theory. Applicants must complete a PhD in sociology no later than August 2015. We seek candidates with exceptional commitment to research and teaching. Please upload a letter of application which includes teaching interests and research plans, a curriculum vita, publications or samples of written work, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references.
