The Department of Crime & Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts,
Dartmouth invites applications for a position at the Associate or Full Professor level starting
Fall 2015. The faculty in Crime & Justice Studies come from multiple disciplines including Gender
Studies, History, Law and Society, Sociology, Equity Studies, Criminology, Psychology, Education,
Social Work and American Studies. Our curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary and innovative
approaches. The department is striving to become a leader in teaching intersectionality and
research on matters of social justice.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach both core and elective courses within the
Department of Crime & Justice Studies. Academic focus is open within the study of
intersectionality, and applicants must have the desire to assist in designing, creating, growing
and administering an innovative and progressive program, with the future prospect of creating and
contributing to graduate studies.
All applicants must provide evidence of effective undergraduate classroom instruction, an
accomplished publication record and research agenda, and a commitment to service in the community
and the university. We are especially interested in candidates whose publication record and
teaching experience focus on critical theory through the intersectionality of race, gender,
sexuality, class, nation, and empire. Applicants are invited from interdisciplinary fields drawing
upon Queer, Women’s and Gender studies, Ethnic Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies,
History, Whiteness, Black Studies, Sociology, Criminology, Law and Society, and related fields.
Applicants from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups are especially encouraged to apply.
PhD required and years of experience commensurate to associate or full professor ranking. Research
publications commensurate to associate or full professor ranking are required. Teaching experience
is required with documented proficiency.
