Western Kentucky University (WKU) Department of Sociology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 15, 2015. Review of applications will begin on October 6, 2014 and will continue until position is filled.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, or Criminal Justice completed by the time of appointment. Primary areas of specialization and teaching interest are Criminology and Criminal Justice with a focus on Corrections/Penology. The ideal candidate would also be able to contribute to instruction in the areas of Stratification and/or Research Methods. Familiarity and experience teaching web courses is desirable and a willingness to teach online courses is essential. The successful applicant will be highly involved in WKU’s online Criminology Master’s program and undergraduate Criminology major. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, ongoing scholarly research, and involvement in university, community, and professional service activities are expected.
The Department of Sociology offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in both sociology and criminology. The Master of Arts in Criminology is offered completely online. The department currently has 395 undergrad and graduate majors matriculating through its programs.
