Hi. I'm new to this so I'm wondering what's the 'normal' amount of time between application deadline and interview requests. When should we expect to hear from schools with Sept 15 deadline?

There's a huge range. Some are really quick and some take a long time.

On average, I would say about 3 weeks, but it can vary.

Anyone else feeling like they're crawling out of their skin waiting for interviews to be scheduled?!?!? I checked against last year's board, and we should be seeing calls over the next week or two. But, I need distractions now. The other board has some interesting discussions, but I'm not crazy about the trollishness level there.
What do you all do to distract yourself from the waiting? And don't say "work on my research, of course" because seriously, no one believes you're working on your research twenty hours a day.

I hear you, I feel like we're very close to a lot more universities scheduling interviews, but it feels like it's taking a long time... and I can only kill so much time by refreshing this board. As simple as it may sound, I've mostly been distracting myself by applying for more jobs. And, yes, I am working on research most days.

^ You've got the right idea. Focus on the things you can control...

This is good advice, but remember that it's still VERY VERY early in the season. It's not even October, folks. Most applications are not even due yet, most committees have not met, some committees haven't even been formed, and some ads haven't even been released. There's lots of time.

I agree with all the points above. This is my third time out, so I know all too well that it's early and you can only control what you can control, BUT I'm still interested in what others do to distract themselves.
Hobbies? Television? Drinking?
