Assistant Professor, Medical Sociology
The Department of Sociology at the College of William and Mary seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Medical Sociology. We define medical sociology broadly, although we have a particular interest in candidates with research and teaching expertise in global health or health disparities based on race, class, gender, and/or sexuality. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain an active research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body. Teaching expectation is two courses per semester. The successful candidate would have opportunities to participate in other programs at the College such as the Public Health Minor and the Schroeder Center for Health Policy.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field at the time of appointment (August 10, 2015). Candidate must apply online at jobs.wm.edu. Submit a curriculum vitae and a cover letter including a statement of research and teaching interests. You will be prompted to submit online the names and email addresses of three references who will be contacted by us with instructions for how to submit a letter of reference. For full consideration, submit application materials by the review date, October 1. Applications received after the review date will be considered if needed. The College of William & Mary values diversity and invites applications from underrepresented groups who will enrich the research, teaching and service missions of the university. The College is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and conducts background checks on applicants for employment. Direct questions to the Chair of the Search Committee at aaquark@wm.edu.
