The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Culture to start fall 2015. We seek applicants with a research specialization in digital media (e.g. the production and dissemination of digital media content; the content purveyed via digital media; the reception, usage and/or pro-sumption of digital media content) and whose research may link to other substantive areas in the department (social psychology, social inequality, and health). Candidates should be prepared to teach culture courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and we would look favorably on those candidates who could also teach core courses in either theory or methods. The candidate should have completed the PhD or be very close to completing the PhD by Fall 2015. The review of applications will begin on October 1, 2014. Emory University and the Sociology department value diversity and seek talented students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. We strongly encourage applications from minorities and women. Emory University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
NOTE: As of Juy 14, 2014, the above ad has not been approved by the Emory College Affirmative Action Committee.

Culture? Is Timothy Dowd leaving? Or are they trying to create a name for themselves in culture?

Did anyone else receive an email from them asking to complete the demo form... without actually applying for the position this year?!

I applied through the emory HR site....it took some google searching but their -very obnoxious- HR site is out there, and has a link to apply to soc
I think they want letters of rec sent here outside the HR system: sociologysearch@emory.edu
